Choosing a name
We met one of Mahler the dog’s friends at the park today. His name is Hamlet. Hamlet and Mahler, chasing each other around in the grey early light.
I asked the owner whether he had deliberately chosen the name Hamlet but he said no, that’s the name they gave him at the shelter and they toyed with changing it for 24 hours before deciding to stick with it.
I named my work persona Maydew because there are too many Laura Davises in the world for me to secure a domain to showcase my work. I operate as myself under a name that, most likely, comes from the old English word for meadow and holds personal significance.
